A 23-year-old man has been charged after a man was stabbed in a Moray town.

A 26-year-old man was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin with serious injuries following the alleged incident on Lesmurdie Road in the town on Tuesday morning.

He is said to be in a stable condition.

Police confirmed on Wednesday a 23-year-old man had since been detained and charged.

He expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Two other men who were detained have since been released without charge.
