A man has been arrested over a hit-and-run in Aberdeenshire that left a cyclist seriously injured.

Cyclist Eilidh Southren, 24, was hit on the A93 Aberdeen to Banchory road at Drumoak at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and treated for injuries which included bruising and a serious gash on her arm.

Police launched an appeal to trace the car involved and a 27-year-old man has now been arrested over the incident.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
