Motorists in Aberdeen faced long tailbacks after a bus burst into flames on a busy city road.

The incident involving a Stagecoach bus happened on Wellington Road shortly after noon on Wednesday.

The both carriageways were closed for more than 30 minutes following the fire, causing delays for half a mile.

The driver of the bus was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be examined but was not injured.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted to the fire at about 12.30pm and sent three appliances.

"I'm not aware of any injuries at the moment."
