A two-year-old boy is in a critical condition after plunging four storeys from a block of flats in Aberdeen.

The toddler was found in the back garden of a property on Balnagask Circle by paramedics, who were called to the scene at 1.30pm on Monday.

He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow in a stable but critical condition.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1.30pm and at that time the patient was conveyed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a serious condition.

"He has since been transferred to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were made aware of reports at around 1.40pm of a two-year-old boy who had fallen from a window at a property in the Balnagask area of Torry.
