Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace after a fan was struck by two chairs during a recent Aberdeen v Rangers match.

The Aberdeen supporter was struck by the objects at Pittodrie Stadium at around 2.50pm on Sunday, September 25.

On Tuesday, Police Scotland released the CCTV images of the man they are seeking in connection with the incident.

Constable Stuart Hache said: "We have conducted a number of enquiries into this incident and believe the male may have important information pertaining to this enquiry.

"I would urge anyone with information relating to the male depicted in the CCTV images to make contact with the police and pass on that information."

The man pictured in the images was in the away section of the ground during the SPFL Premiership match, which Aberdeen won 2-1.

Previously, footage taken by Aberdeen fans in the stadium emerged which showed the moment the chairs were thrown at the crowd.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101.
