Fishermen threatened with eviction from a historic harbour are taking their fight to court.

Landlord Pralhad Kohle has repeatedly ordered them to remove their boats from Cove Bay Harbour in Aberdeen.

The fishermen have refused to leave the port, which has been used for fishing since the 1700s.

The seafarers expect to have their first court hearing in Aberdeen on December 15.

Jim Adam, chairman of Cove Bay Fishermen's Association, said: "In the worst case scenario it could cost us £40,000 or £50,000 and it's been crippling not being able to use the harbour properly."

The fishermen were first ordered to remove their boats in May 2014, when Mr Kohle gave them two weeks to leave.

The fishermen refused to move and no further action was taken until September 2015, when they were issued with a second ultimatum.

In January, Aberdeen City Council ordered Mr Kohle to tear down a blockade of boulders blocking access to the foreshore but it has not been removed.

The boulders prevent fishermen from using trailers to bring their boats down to the shore.

More than 11,000 people have signed a petition backing their cause.

Mr Kohle's lawyers previously said the plastic surgeon wants to "improve the harbour for amenity use".
