A man charged over the thefts during a Remembrance day parade has been freed from custody.

More than £100 was taken from three unattended purses at the Sea Cadets base on Porca Quay, Aberdeen, on Sunday.

A 34-year-old man had been expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday but was freed pending further inquiries.

A Crown Office spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal received a report concerning a 34-year-old male in connection with alleged incidents said to have occurred on November 13.

"After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, he was liberated from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court."

The event on Sunday was attended by the executive officer and crew of the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond.
