A man has collapsed and died while working at an Aberdeenshire harbour.

Police were called to Pennan, near Fraserburgh, at 10.20am on Friday over concerns for the man.

The cause of his death, which occurred on the beachfront, is unclear and an inquiry is under way.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were made aware at 10.20am of concerns for a man who later died.

"As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

The Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat was called out to assist police but was not needed.
