Two women have been airlifted to hospital after a two-car crash near Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire.

Three young children were in one of the cars but it is understood they were not injured.

Helicopters were called to the crash on the B9031 Fraserburgh to Sandhaven road at around 8.45am on Thursday.

The two female drivers were airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, one by air ambulance and the other by coastguard.

The road has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the crash.
