An 81-year-old woman is due in court charged with injuring four pedestrians by driving dangerously.

Marjory Stewart, of Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, is alleged to have crashed into three vehicles during the incident in Portsoy, Moray.

The pensioner is said to have failed to have kept her car under control and accelerated before colliding with a Ford Focus on the village square.

Pedestrian Gail McAllister is said to have been struck by the vehicle, causing her to fall into another woman, Rhona Smith, knocking her to the ground.

Prosecutors say pedestrians Irene Morrison and Melanie Anderson were also injured during the incident on July 5.

Ms Morrison suffered serious injuries after Stewart's car allegedly collided with a parked vehicle, trapping her.

Stewart is also alleged to have crashed into a Hyundai 130 which collided with another vehicle.

The case against Stewart called at Banff Sheriff Court in Aberdeenshire on Tuesday and was continued without plea until next month.
