More than 1000 people have voiced their opinion on the future of Union Terrace Gardens.

Aberdeen City Council recently published a series of images showing changes which could potentially be made to the 140-year-old park in a planned £20m revamp.

A public consultation over the proposals ended at midnight on Friday, with the first results expected to be revealed next week.

Council leader Jenny Laing said: "It's great that so many people are making the effort to study this key City Centre Masterplan proposal and share their views.

"Some people have asked us why we are carrying out a survey and don't just press ahead with plans.

"However, successfully delivering the Masterplan is all about partnership working and that is especially true of Union Terrace Gardens."

Councillors narrowly voted against Sir Ian Wood's controversial £140m vision for Union Terrace Gardens in 2012.

The City Garden Project was supported by slightly over half of the 85,000 people who took part in a consultation on the plan but councillors rejected the business case for the scheme.
