An Aberdeenshire man missing for two weeks may not be aware police are searching for him, officers say.

James Leask was last seen on the evening of November 27, at a Co-op on Burghmuir Drive in Inverurie.

Police say they are growing increasingly anxious for his welfare, but said the 30-year-old may not be aware of their concerns.

Inspector Sheila McDerment said: "As time goes on, we are increasingly concerned for the welfare of James and we are asking anyone who has seen him or who may have information as to where he may be to contact us as a matter of urgency.

"We would also like to reassure James that he is not in trouble but we just want to confirm he is okay.

"We would ask James if he sees this to get in touch with us on 101 as soon as he can."

Mr Leask is 5ft 8in tall, with short mousy brown hair and a large build. He walks with a slight limp.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with a black motif, blue waterproof jacket with white stripes, navy Adidas tracksuit bottoms, and blue trainers with white stripes when last seen.

He may have been carrying other clothing with him.
