A man has been charged with attempted murder following a disturbance at a flat in Aberdeen.

Police said they were called to a top floor flat in the Aberdeen suburb of Peterculter in the early hours of December 26 amid reports that a house party had "gone wrong".

A man in his 50s was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

He is understood to be in stable condition.

Police later said they had detained a man in connection with an alleged serious assault.

On Wednesday, Patryck Pietrusewicz, 36, appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

He was charged with assault to severe injury and attempted murder.

Pietrusewicz made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

His next court appearance is still to be confirmed.
