A rare bottle of whisky signed by US president-elect Donald Trump is expected to fetch up to £3500 at auction.

The 26-year-old GlenDronach was bottled in 2012 to mark the opening of Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire.

The limited-edition whisky will go on sale at McTear's auction house in Glasgow on January 13, seven days before Mr Trump is inaugurated.

McTear's whisky expert Laurie Black said: "I suspect Mr Trump's imminent elevation to the position of leader of the free world will have a significant bearing on the value of the 26-year-old GlenDronach.

"But the fact remains that this is also a quite stunning whisky in its own right."

A signed bottle auctioned last year before the Republican won the presidency in a bitterly contested race against Democrat Hillary Clinton sold for £1950.

Mr Trump controversially opened his links at Balmedie in 2012 and bought Turnberry in South Ayrshire in 2014.

The billionaire has promised to step away from his businesses when he assumes office on January 20 and has indicated he will hand control to his children.
