Police have released CCTV images of a couple wanted over an unprovoked attack on a teenager outside an Aberdeenshire train station.

The 18-year-old victim was left with a "severe" face injury after he was assaulted outside the entrance of Stonehaven train station at around 11.50pm on December 3.

Police are now trying to trace a man and a woman in connection with the incident.

The woman is described as being in her late teens to early twenties, tall, of a slim build, with long brown hair.

She was wearing a beige jacket and beige knee high boots.

The man is described as being in his early twenties, of a medium build, with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark blue puffy jacket, blue jeans and grey and black trainers.

Both are believed to be local to the Stonehaven area.

Constable Graham Crawford said: "This is a serious incident resulting in a male sustaining a severe facial injury.

"Violent behaviour will not be tolerated and I would urge anyone who recognises the male and female pictured, or has any knowledge of this incident to come forward and contact the police."
