Around 100 jobs are under threat in Aberdeen and London as Aker Solutions slashes its workforce.

About 650 posts are expected to go in the UK, Norway and India in the first three months of this year.

It is the latest in a series of cuts which have seen about 120,000 people lose their jobs in the UK's oil industry since early 2014.

A spokesman for the Norwegian oil services firm said: "Aker Solutions today informed employees of the need to reduce the company's workforce capacity.

"About 650 positions, mainly in Norway, the UK and India, may be affected.

"The adjustments are being made because of the continued market slowdown and as part of a global reorganisation that will strengthen the company's competitiveness.
