A teenager has been charged after a bus crashed into scaffolding outside a church in Aberdeen city centre.

The First bus collided with a Volkswagen Polo on Union Street before hitting the scaffolding at Gilcomston South Church at around 11.35am on Monday.

Three people were treated for minor injuries at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

An 18-year-old male, who was reportedly driving the Polo, has been charged by police.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 11.35am on Monday on Union Street in Aberdeen involving a white Volkswagen polo and a bus.

"A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
