Armed officers and police dogs have been called to reports of an incident at an Aberdeen flat.

Police shut Middlefield Terrace at around 9.45am on Wednesday after a 999 call raised concerns for the safety of a woman.

However, when they arrived at the scene officers found no sign of a disturbance.

Police remained at the flat on Wednesday afternoon but the road has partially reopened.

Inspector Andy Barclay said: "We were made aware of concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a woman within a property in the Hilton area, and attended at the scene with assistance from operational support units.

"Following extensive enquiries it was established there was no disturbance and that no one was at risk of any harm.

"As with any incident, the safety of the public throughout remains at the forefront of our priorities and policing resources deemed appropriate will be deployed to assist."
