A 30-year-old man has died after a car crash near Braemar on Sunday.

The man was the driver and sole occupant of a red Seat Ibiza, which left the road.

Police received a call around 1.15am in relation to the incident but the man was pronouced dead at the scene.

The A93 between Braemar and Crathie was closed while emergency services attended the incident. It was reopened at around 11am.

The man has not been identified.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Any person who witnessed the collision, or saw the motor car in the Deeside area prior to the collision, is asked to contact Police Scotland by telephoning 101."

Enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
