A man has been charged with murdering a grandfather by stabbing him to death in the street.

Arran Fender, 31, of Kinneff Crescent, Dundee, is charged with killing Gary McMillan in the city on Tuesday.

He is alleged to have murdered the 44-year-old by repeatedly striking him on the body with a knife.

Fender made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The case was continued for further examination and Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown remanded him in custody meantime.

Mr McMillan's body was found at the junction of Lawton Road and Lawton Terrace in Dundee at around 2.25am on Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance crew.
