A 15-year-old schoolgirl is to stand trial accused of taking a knife into school and attacking a younger pupil.

The teenager is alleged to have taken the bladed multi-tool into her school on March 10 before assaulting a 12-year-old and holding the weapon to her face.

She is said to have assaulted the younger girl by striking her on the face with her hand before seizing and pulling her by the hair.

Prosecutors say the girl then pinned her alleged victim against the wall and placed the blade against her face.

The 15-year-old from Dundee denied all the charges on summary complaint through her solicitor Anika Jethwa at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday.

Fiscal depute Jennifer Johnston has asked that early trial dates be set given the age of the complainer in the case.

Sheriff Tom Hughes set a trial date for August and ordered the girl to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing in July.
