A housing support manager at a charity that cares for people with communication support needs has been accused of "misappropriating" a service user's money.

Lorain Carberry has been accused of linking a service user's debit card with her PayPal account and making around 90 transactions worth around £277.

The transactions are said to have taken place while Ms Carberry was employed as a locality manager at Sense Scotland, which offers supported living arrangements, in Dundee.

She faces a string of charges at the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), with a hearing due to take place next month.

Ms Carberry was dismissed from her position following an internal investigation in February 2015.

The charges state that between 2011 and 2014 she failed to take action when around £6000 was withdrawn from the account of a man, referred to as "service user A", without his knowledge.

She is accused of failing to record financial transactions made for two other service users.

Further charges state that around February 19 2014 she linked service user A's debit card with her personal PayPal account.

Between February and August that year, she is said to have made around 90 transactions on the account, "misappropriating" £277.

More charges say she acted "dishonestly" by telling colleagues a transaction on the service user's account was a banking error, when in fact she had made the transaction.

The hearing is due to start next week.
