A climber has been rescued after plunging 100ft down a rock face in Perthshire.

The incident happened at around 12.25pm on Thursday when the 58-year-old man fell while on the popular Craig a Barns rock climbing spot at Polney Loch, near Dunkeld.

He landed on a crag around 30ft from the bottom of the rock face and was then stabilised in position by firefighters and paramedics, with a mountain rescue team also in attendance.

Rope rescue teams were able to bring him down from the rocks by stretcher and he was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "At around 12.25pm, emergency services were called to reports of a 58-year-old man who had fallen while rock climbing at Craig a Barns, near Dunkeld, Perthshire.

"He was rescued and taken to Perth Royal Infirmary for treatment."
