Five officers were taken to hospital after potentially coming into contact with hazardous asbestos at Aberdeen harbour.

The group were carrying out a search in the Blaikies Quay area of the harbour around 8.50pm on Friday night.

Ambulance crews were pictured at the scene and STV News understands six fire engines were also in assistance.

Police Scotland said the hazardous material had been contained and no other officers or members of the public were affected or at risk.

The five officers were later discharged and none were hurt.

A statement from officers said: "Police Scotland in Aberdeen can confirm that at around 8.50pm today, following a routine search warrant operation in the Blaikies Quay area of the harbour, five police officers have potentially come into contact with the hazardous material, asbestos.
