Two men are to stand trial accused of attempting to abduct two women on the same day.

The young women were allegedly chased, grabbed and dragged up a set of stairs by Vygantas Gadeikis and Evaldas Norbutas.

Both incidents took place in Dundee's Park Wynd area on Saturday, October 3, 2015.

Gadeikis is first accused of chasing the first woman, grabbing her by the arm and dragging her up the set of stairs before trying to force her into a car. The 28-year-old also reportedly seized her body and struggled with her.

Prosecutors say he pushed and pulled the woman towards the car before trying to push her into it in an attempt to abduct her.

Gadeikis, of Blairgowrie in Perthshire, faces a second charge of attempting to abduct another woman by dragging her up the same stairs towards a car.

Co-accused Norbutas is also charged with attacking the second woman by chasing her, seizing her by the body and pushing her against a railing.

The 29-year-old, of Blairgowrie, is alleged to have abducted her by placing his arms either side of her, trapping her against the railings, refusing to let her leave and detaining her against her will.

Gadeikis pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and attempted abduction and Norbutas denied a single charge of abduction.

Solicitor Ross Donnelly, for Gadeikis, and solicitor advocate Kris Gilmartin, for Norbutas, said both men were ready for trial.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael continued the case to a jury trial sitting later this month at Dundee Sheriff Court.
