A man wanted in connection with a fire attack at a tower block earlier this year is being hunted by police.

Officers have now released CCTV footage taken in the tower's lift in a bid to track him down.

Police attended Rosehill Court in Aberdeen with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who managed to quickly extinguish the fire before any major damage was caused.

Extensive inquires have been carried out since the incident, which took place at about 12.20am on Sunday, January 22.

The man is described as white, between 5ft 8in and 6ft tall, of average build and was wearing a grey hoodie with black down the left side, blue jeans and black shoes.

The fire caused only minor damage and no one was injured.

Detective Inspector Allen Shaw said: "Thankfully, no-one was in the affected property at the time, nor was anyone injured or harmed.

"Crimes of this nature are extremely rare, not just in this area but in the city generally, and I would stress to the public that such incidents are taken extremely seriously by police."
