Police have released CCTV footage in a bid to trace a man seen inappropriately approaching children at a play park.

He was spotted near two youngsters at a park on Upperboat Road in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

Police were alerted by a concerned member of the public at 6.30pm on Tuesday, June 20.

Constable Russell Masson said: "I would urge anyone who has any information relating to the man depicted in the image to make contact with the police and pass on that information.

"Also, we would like to speak to anyone who was within the area of the park at the time of the incident."

The man was between 5ft 2in and 5ft 4in, of a heavy build, with short grey-black hair.

He was wearing a baseball cap, blue shirt, baggy grey trousers, grey plimsole shoes with a white rim and a black leather coat with a lapel collar. He was also carrying a white carrier bag with floral motif.

On his right had he had several large gold rings, and on his left wrist he was wearing a black plastic strapped watch.
