A football fanatic has amassed a collection of shirts belonging to every national team in the world.

Joe Johnston, who started his collection in 2010, hopes to put on an exhibition of the 400 shirts from around the world.

The 35-year-old Aberdeen fan even has an Azerbaijan top once owned by Pope Benedict XVI that he bought online for £8.

The purchase of an Argentina shirt in South Africa seven years ago has led Joe to secure tops from all 211 national teams.

With shirts from far and wide it has been a painstaking task tracking down his collectables, with some interesting encounters along the way.

On the shirt formerly owned by the Pope he said: "I got it from eBay and the guy that was selling it clearly didn't know what he was selling as it was listed at about £8."

Asked what he would like to do with his array of collectables, Joe said: "I'd like to do an exhibition. I'm going to need a big space and a way to secure them.

"But I want to show them off because people are interested. I'd like to do a book as well because the website has been really popular.

"I don't think it would be too difficult to adapt that into a book. And I'll probably buy the odd shirt from time to time if I'm honest."
