The deaths of a taxi driver and his wife may have been the result of a murder-suicide, it is understood.

The bodies of William and Karen Flett were found at their home on Cornhill Terrace in Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

Detectives are reportedly investigating whether or not Mr Flett killed his partner before taking his own life.

Police say they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the pair's deaths.

In a statement, the family said: "We are completely devastated by our loss and as a family we will help each other through this extremely difficult time.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who have passed on their wishes and offered their support.

"We would ask that we are left in private to come to terms with what has happened."

Detective inspector Allen Shaw said: "I can confirm that both deceased have died as a result of injuries which are consistent with the circumstances in which they were found. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what occurred at the property but at this stage, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.

"While we believe this to be a contained incident we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual at the property yesterday, Wednesday, 5 July or in the days running up to the 5th to contact police on 101."

Forensics specialists were seen examining Mr Flett's taxi outside the couple's home on Thursday morning.
