Police searching the flat of a man accused of murdering two people found a photo of one of the deceased in a wallet, a trial has heard.

DC Victor White said the find was made when officers attended the Dundee home of Krzysztof Gadecki, who is alleged to have killed Ronald Kidd and Holly Alexander at their flat in the city.

The detective took jurors at the High Court in Edinburgh through a series of photographs taken at Gadecki's property in Benview Road.

One image showed a wallet containing a picture of Mr Kidd, while another showed a close up of a Post Office card featuring Mr Kidd's signature.

Two watches were also photographed along with markings found in the flat that had the potential to be blood.

The trial then heard from Gadecki's brother, Maciej Tachasiuk.

Mr Tachasiuk told the court that in the days following the murder he noticed Gadecki had a cut to his finger, which he said had happened in a kitchen accident.

The jury also heard Mr Tachasiuk believed his brother had been taking Valium the day before he was taken into custody by police.

Gadecki, 38, is alleged to have murdered 40-year-old Mr Kidd with a knife or similar instrument between December 8 and 11, 2016, at a property in Rosefield Street, Dundee.

He is also charged with murdering Ms Alexander, 37, in a similar fashion between the same dates.

Gadecki has denied the charges and lodged a special defence of self defence claiming that he had been assaulted by the deceased.

The trial continues.
