Jurors have been sent home after spending the afternoon deliberating on whether a man who has admitted stabbing two people is guilty of murder.

Judge Lord Beckett ordered members of the jury to stop their deliberations on whether Robert Stratton, 43, murdered Julie McCash, 43, and David Sorrie, 32, in Dundee, in February 2017.

The jurors began considering their verdicts on Wednesday afternoon after being addressed by prosecutor Alex Prentice QC and defence advocate Edward Targowski QC.

They were also addressed by Lord Beckett who also gave them legal directions.

Prosecutors claim that on February 26, 2017 at Drumlanrig Drive, Dundee, Mr Stratton assaulted Julie McCash with a knife, murdering her.

The second charge alleges that on the same date and at the same location he murdered David Sorrie with a knife.

Stratton has pleaded not guilty and has lodged special defences of self defence.
