A body found in a car near Aberfeldy last week has been formally identified as missing hillwalker Wilma Carlin.

Ms Carlin, 60, from Kenmore, had last been seen in Aberfeldy on Tuesday morning.

Police Scotland's air support unit was involved in searches of Aberfeldy and Kenmore on Wednesday.

The force also released a CCTV image of Ms Carlin in a chemist and revealed her car, a silver Citreon DS3, was also missing.

On Thursday afternoon, police confirmed a body had been discovered.

Ms Carlin's family was informed about the development and the body has now formally been identified as Ms Carlin.

A police spokesman said: "As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Our thoughts are with her family."
