A man has been seriously injured in an unprovoked attack in Aberdeen.

The 19-year-old was assaulted on Bedford Avenue at around 2am on Saturday.

He may have been attacked by more than one person and suffered facial injuries that required hospital treatment.

Police are seeking three people, including a woman in pyjama bottoms and a fleece.

Constable Alan Gordon said: "It would appear that this assault was unprovoked, which is completely unacceptable.

"The man involved has sustained a serious injury to his face, however, I don't think I need to stress that the outcome could have been much worse - even just one punch can have fatal consequences."

Police are looking for a 6ft man in his late 20s with a medium build and short, dark brown hair. He was wearing a Harrington jacket with jeans and a red T-shirt.

The woman was described as being in her early 20s, around 5ft 5in with a slim build and blonde highlighted hair.

Police are also seeking a man thought to be around 6ft 1in with a medium build, who was wearing jeans.
