Emergency services were called to a fire at an empty house in Aberdeen on Wednesday.

Firefighters and police arrived at the house on Cranford Road around 6pm.

The fire was found to have taken hold on the upper floor of the two-storey property.

Three fire engines were involved in tackling the flames.

It is understood that the last resident, an elderly man, died in late October, leaving the house empty.

Residents living in adjoining properties were escorted to safety by firefighters and neighbours.

Nobody is thought to have been injured.
