A blaze at a golf club in Aberdeen has been successfully tackled by firefighters.

Crews were called to the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club on Links Road, Bridge of Don, at around 2.30pm on Thursday.

Upon arrival they were directed to a 600 square metre patch of gorse that was "well alight".

The team from Aberdeen Central Fire Station set about the fire with beaters and managed to extinguish the flames shortly before 4pm.

A fire service spokeswoman said a wildfire unit had been sent to the scene to assist with the effort.

Nobody is thought to have been injured by the fire.
