A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Aberdeen has been named.

Michal Rafal Podgorski, 30, was struck by a Renault Megane on the A947 between Stoneywood Roundabout and Mugiemoss Road.

The incident happened at around 12.30am on Friday.

Mr Podgorski, originally from Poland, was living in Kincorth.

Sergeant Rob Warnock from Inverurie Divisional Road Policing Unit said: "First and foremost our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Michal.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen the vehicle or Michal shortly beforehand and who has not yet spoken with police to do so to help us piece together exactly what happened."
