A man has been charged with road traffic and drugs offences after police pursued a van along the A90.

The blue Ford Transit was brought to a stop on Muirend Road in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, on Tuesday.

Police seized cocaine worth £4500 after the vehicle was stopped.

A 29-year-old man has been charged and is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Road policing sergeant Steve Manson said: "This operation involved specialist officers as well as officers from road policing. No one was injured as a result.

"Officers in the north east are committed to tackling the illegal supply of drugs and we are grateful for the support from the community."
