A man has suffered facial injuries in an attack by a gang in Dundee.

He was assaulted by four men on Lochee Road near the Dudhope Terrace junction at around 7.40pm on Monday.

The 40-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say all four attackers were between 16 and 20.

One was described as wearing a black jacket and jeans, while a second was wearing a grey zip-up hoodie and jeans.

A police spokesman said: "We would also like to trace a specific potential witness, a motorist who was driving a black car and was seen to stop and speak to one of the persons responsible.

"This incident started on the pavement and spilled on to the road, stopping traffic.

"Even at that time of day, this is a busy road and junction, and it is hoped someone may have seen the incident and can provide us with more information."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
