Passenger dies and toddler seriously hurt in head-on crash
A 23-year-old man died in the smash on the A96 near Elgin, Moray, on Wednesday.
A man has died and a toddler is seriously injured after a head-on crash on the A96.
The 23-year-old passenger died in the smash near Elgin, Moray, at about 10am on Wednesday.
A two-year-old boy has been seriously injured while his mother, 22, who was a driver, and a man, 66, were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.
Another woman, 23, who was a passenger, suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The road has been shut between Elgin and Lhanbryde following the crash involving a black Vauxhall Astra and a grey Volkswagen Golf.
Sergeant Steve Manson said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died as a result of today's collision.
"Our enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing and I would like to appeal to anyone who has vital information to get in touch, if they haven't already done so.
"At the time of the collision, the Vauxhall Astra, which was carrying three adults and a child, was travelling on the A96 towards Lhanbryde. The Volkswagen Golf was travelling on the A96 towards Elgin."
