Two Tayside hospitals have been closed to new admissions due to a potential flu outbreak.

A small number of patients have shown flu-like symptoms in Stracatharo Hospital in Angus, leading to ward seven being closed to new arrivals.

And ward five at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee remains closed to new patients due to a small number being diagnosed with influenza A.

NHS Tayside said that patients in the wards were being monitored and appropriate infection control and prevention measures were in place.

Friends and families of patients have been asked to avoid visiting if possible to reduce the spread of infection.

Those who have coughs and colds have been asked not to visit any patients until they are better.
