Two boys have been charged with assault after a teenager was found unconscious on a street.

A 17-year-old boy was found by a passer-by at around 5.30am on Saturday on Adelaide Place in Dundee.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital in the city for treatment to head injuries and remained there over the festive period.

Forensic teams attended the scene of the alleged assault and investigating officers have now confirmed two 15-year-old boys have been charged in connection with the incident.

Adelaide Place was closed for more than 24 hours while enquiries were carried out.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that two 15-year-old male youths have been charged with assault in connection with the incident where a man was found in Adelaide Place, Dundee, with head injuries on December 23.

"A report on the circumstances is being sent to the procurator fiscal."
