CCTV has been released of four men after a father was crushed to death by a vehicle in a hit-and-run.

John Ogston was discovered on Mains Road in Dundee at 11pm on New Year's Day.

The father-of-two suffered serious injuries to his head and body before being helped into a nearby house.

Officers believe the four men in the CCTV, thought to be Asian or eastern European, stopped to help the 67-year-old, who later died in hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "They may have some knowledge of the vehicle that collided with John.

"We appreciate that the images are not of the greatest quality but we hope that a member of this group may see these images and recognise themselves. It is possible that the males are Asian or eastern European.

"If this is you, or you think you know anyone who it could be, please contact us."

He added: "There is nothing to fear and I would stress these men are witnesses.

"John's family are needing answers as to what happened to him, and you may be able to provide us with the vital information that could help put their minds at rest."
