Pensioner in pyjamas sent home from hospital on ferry
The 80-year-old man was discharged from hospital in Orkney in freezing temperatures.
A pensioner was sent on a two-hour ferry journey wearing only his pyjamas and slippers after being discharged from hospital.
The 80-year-old man was discharged from the new Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall, Orkney, in freezing temperatures after undergoing foot surgery.
The man was put into a taxi before the driver helped him on to a ferry heading to the island of Sanday on Monday.
A complaint has now been lodged with NHS Orkney following the man's ordeal.
A spokeswoman for the health board said: "A formal complaint has been received about this and NHS Orkney is investigating.
"They will respond directly to the patient and their family."
