A prisoner who failed to return after a period of home leave has now been traced.

Paul Stewart was reported missing on Monday after he was due to arrive back at HMP Castle Huntly in Longforgan, Perth and Kinross, at 2pm.

Police launched a public appeal to find the 44-year-old but also warned members of the public not to approach him.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police Scotland can confirm that Paul Stewart missing from HMP Castle Huntly has been traced safe and well.

"Police Scotland would like to thank everyone involved for their assistance."
