The father of a teenager who disappeared in India more than 30 years ago has died never knowing what happened to her.

Reverend Kenneth MacDonald spent almost half his life searching for 19-year-old Alison, who vanished during a three-month trip across India and Nepal in 1981.

The Free Church minister remained convinced his daughter was still alive and travelled to India more than a dozen times.

He died last week aged 83 after suffering from blindness and multiple sclerosis for several years.

Shortly before her disappearance, Ms MacDonald had travelled with a friend to Sonmarg, a village in the Himalayas.

On August 16, her friend went on a two-day pony trek to a nearby glacier while Ms MacDonald remained at their hotel.

She was last seen walking down a nearby street, having left her belongings in her room.

As recently as 2015 her family offered a £20,000 reward for information about her disappearance.
