A teacher has been suspended for allegedly drinking alcohol from a hot water bottle.

Pupils at Perth High raised the alarm after the teacher was said to have been intoxicated.

She was later taken out of the classroom after a senior member of staff witnessed her erratic behaviour.

It is understood the teacher was drinking alcohol from a hot water bottle that she kept in her classroom.

Perth and Kinross Council has suspended her for alleged misconduct.

A spokeswoman said: "We do not comment on individual members of staff, therefore we have nothing further to add.

"We can neither confirm nor deny any of the statements being made.

"If any allegations of inappropriate behaviour by staff were raised with us, we would investigate them fully."

The General Teaching Council for Scotland declined to comment.
