An ATM machine in Aberdeen is damaged after an attempted break-in and theft.

Police were alerted to the Spar at Clifton Road being targeted at around 1.50am on Tuesday.

The ATM was damaged, but nothing was taken.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured Audi SUV type vehicle in the area at the time.

It is understood that the vehicle left on Clifton Road travelling in the direction of North Anderson Drive.

Detective inspector Fionnuala McPhail said: "I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 12am and 2am.

"In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured Audi SUV type vehicle, possibly a Q5 or a Q7.

"Additional patrols will be carried out in the area and we would ask that anyone with information speaks to any officer or calls 101 using reference number 0156 of March 6.

"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous."
