A motorcyclist has been charged after allegedly driving at 137mph on a busy road in Aberdeenshire.

The 46-year-old man was said to have been travelling 67mph over the speed limit on the A96 on March 7.

He was stopped by officers between Blackburn and Kintore shortly before 2pm.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

Road policing sergeant Steve Manson said: "The A96 has a maximum speed limit of 70mph for a reason.

"The speed limit is not a target and when the conditions are poor you should reduce your speed."
