Armed police have been called to a siege at a high rise block of flats.

The alert was raised at Burnside Court in Lochee, Dundee, shortly before 8.30am on Tuesday.

Officers were called to a "concern for a person" and are still at the scene.

Firefighters were also called to help ram the door down at the property.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The matter is still ongoing.

"There is no wider threat to the public."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "The police asked for our assistance in order to gain entry to the property.

"We assisted in this and left at 9.55am."
