A cyclist has been left seriously injured after a crash in Ross-shire.

The 37-year-old man was hurt on Tarradale Road, in Muir of Ord, on Tuesday around 12.20pm.

He was riding a red Trek bike when the crash occurred, although police said no other vehicles were involved.

The cyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are now trying to work out exactly what happened.

Road Policing Sergeant Donnie Mackinnon said: "Our initial enquiries have established that no other vehicles were involved in this incident.

"We have already spoken to witnesses who were in the area at the time, including the driver of a vehicle who was nearby when the incident happened.

"We are working to establish the full circumstances and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken to officers to call 101, quoting incident NE4364/18."
